FAQs

Question:What is Tae Kwon Do and how is it different from other martial arts?

Tae Kwon Do is both an ancient Korean Martial Art, and a modern International Olympic sport. Tae Kwon Do's main focuses include kicking techniques, self-defense aspects, and character building.

Question:At what age can children start Tae Kwon Do?

Our experience has shown that children ages four and up will gain the most benefits from Tae Kwon Do classes. At this age students can easily grasp the concepts being taught about respect, focus, and cooperation while also gaining the physical benefits of coordination and self-control through their training.

Question:Can I take classes with my child?

Absolutely! We firmly believe that family that kicks together, sticks together. Training as a family has many additional benefits as well! It is incredibly encouraging to a child to be able to perform next to their parents and siblings, and it creates a new bonding activity for all those involved!

Question:Does Tae Kwon Do increase aggressiveness?

From our experience we can say that the opposite is actually true. Tae Kwon Do training requires the practice and demonstration of respect for all and self-control of ones self. Students will be educated throughout their training about the importance of controlling ones actions and taking responsibility for the actions they perform.

Question:How safe is it to learn Tae Kwon Do?

Tae Kwon Do is a safe, fun activity and sport for anyone interested in participating. Training in Tae Kwon Do is completed at your own pace with instructors guiding you along the way. Han's White Tiger classes include daily stretches and warm ups, padded mat flooring, and protective safety equipment to ensure our students' safety.

Question:Do I need to have prior martial arts experience?

Not at all. Everyone at one point or another was a beginner along his or her Martial Arts journey. New members to the Han's White Tiger Family will receive instruction geared towards beginners to ensure understanding and comfortability with the concepts being taught.

Question:What if I’m out of shape?

There is nothing to worry about. Students at Han's White Tiger work at their own pace in which they feel comfortable. Students will find that as the level of expectation grows higher with each belt, so does their ability to meet and exceed those expectations. Tae Kwon Do training will test your physical limits while extending what those limits are.

Question:How often do I need to train?

Training is key to learning any new skill or art. We offer classes 6 days a week so students can pick class times that fit their schedules. The more consistently you train the more progress and growth you will see.

Question:How much does your program cost?

Pricing varies based upon the duration in which you'd like to commit to your training. We offer a special Introductory Program for all new members to try Tae Kwon Do and see which program would fit the best for them and their family. Our Introductory Program is $19.95 and includes two classes as well as a free uniform.

Question:How long will it take to earn my black belt?

Training to reach your Black Belt is an amazing goal to have. Earning your Black Belt signifies that you've put in time, effort, dedication, and perseverance into something you believe in. Students reach their Black Belts at their own pace, depending on the time they set aside for training and how you progress through the curriculum. This is a goal that everyone can reach; it simply takes patience and determination to never give up, and to never stop learning new things.
