Break-a-Thon

Break-a-Thon

Break-a-Thon

Break-a-Thon is probably our most important event of the year - here at Han's White Tiger, we believe in not only teaching our students Tae Kwon Do, focus, respect & confidence (among others) but we strongly believe in being involved in our local community and giving back to those who are most in need.

This year, our Break-a-Thon will occur on March 15, 2025. We are in the process of organizing this year’s event and can’t wait to share all the detals with you! Keep an eye out here and in our app (for students & families) for more information to come!

Each year, we select a specific department within Cincinnati Children's Hospital to do our fundraising for.  In years past, we have chosen NICU, the Cardiology Department & the Department of Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrics as well as a few others.  This year, we have chosen the Division of Adolescent & Child Psychology as the recipient of funds.  Mental health issues within the pediatric and adolescent population hs increased drastically over the last several years.  Cincinnati Children's provides extensive mental health services to our entire community ranging from behavorial changes at home to 24 hour inpatient treatment.  We are incredibly lucky to have such an incredible hospital right here in Cincinnati and we are excited to be able to donate our proceeds to this department this year.

What exactly happens during Break-a-Thon??

  • This is a fun and exciting day for us here at Han's White Tiger and all of our students!!  Break-a-Thon will take place at the Lakota Each Freshman building (near our Liberty school).

    • 10:30am - 12pm - Carnival Games!!  There are tons of carnival games for students and adults to enjoy as well as face painting!  We will sell tickets for our raffle baskets during this time as well as tickets for Split the Pot.

    • 12pm - Lunch.  We will have pizza, snacks and drinks available for purchase.

    • 1pm - 3pm - Our Main Event!!  We will have our students come out and demonstrate all the skills and awesome things they've been learning in Tae Kwon Do.  Our demo team will perform and we hope to have demo teams from local schools come and perform as well!  Towards the end of the event, we will bring forward a special guest from Cincinnati Children's Hospital to present to them the final check.  In the last 10 years, we have donated over $123,000 to Children's Hospital!!  At the end, we invite all of our families, friends and all in attendance to join us on the mat as we go through a massive round of breaking boards.  We'll grab a group photo afterwards!

How do you raise funds for Break-a-Thon???

  • Personal Fundraising Page on Cincinnati Children's Hospital Giving Hope Page.  Instructions to create the personal page can be found below.

  • Restaurant fundraisers - We will have several restaurant fundraisers available between now and March 15th.  Keep an eye out for more information!

  • Penny Jars - These will be appearing shortly at both our Liberty and West Chester locations.  Each jar will have a picture of one of our staff members on it.  Add pennies (or quarters, dollars, $20 or however much you want!) from now until Break-a-Thon on March 15th.  The goal?  Whichever jar has the most amount of money in it, that staff member will receive a pie in the face at our Break-a-Thon event on March 15th!!  Who would you like to see be the recipient of this?!?!?

  • Yellow Stars - These will be appearing at both our Liberty & West Chester locations shortly as well.  Students & families may purchase a star and put their name on it or the name of someone important to them.  These purchased stars will be displayed at our school.  100% of the proceeds will go towards Cincinnati Children's.

  • Raffle Baskets - If you own a business or know of anyone that owns a business or simply want to help out, we are looking for donations for raffle baskets.  These baskets will be put together prior to Break-a-Thon event and will be raffled off during our event that day.  Anything from children's activities, gift cards to local businesses & restaurants, tickets to local events & places like King's Island/Main Event, items for a movie night, etc are welcome!

  • Monetary Donations - In the past, we have had students simply ask for monetary donations from friends, family & businesses to help support our cause.  Monetary donations should be brought in the week prior to Break-a-Thon so that we have a chance to total everything up.

  • Be Creative!!!  - In years past, we've had students come up with very creative ways to raise money.  Some kids have had a lemonade stand, garage sale, made bracelets & scrunchies, etc.  Use your creative energy to come up with something cool!  We can't wait to see what you come up with!
